Stimulating Statistics in the Epoch of Data-Driven Innovations and Data Science

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to draw attention to programs aimed at creating future statisticians at the secondary and tertiary education levels. Particular attention is paid to collaborations, partnerships with other organizations, outreach initiatives, and supporting mechanisms that have the potential to increase engagement and interest in statistics in an era of data science and data-driven innovations, as well as attract more people to the field of statistics. Providing future generations of statisticians with sufficient exposure to modern statistical analysis, computational and graphical tools, written and oral communication skills, and the ever-growing interdisciplinary application of statistics are all important activities in the development of the profession. Current curricula, pedagogical approaches, teaching materials, and assessment methods must also be re-thought in order to meet the needs of today's scientists, public institutions, industry, civil society, and policymakers in terms of the skills they require for effective interaction with one another.
